How do you feel about corporeal punishment?

I honestly can't believe what sort of comments I found here. How can it be okay to deal physical harm to ANYONE, let alone a defenceless child? There is a reason why dealing physical harm to other persons is a legal offence and it's just too ridiculous that the exception should be your own childern, or those entrusted to you. Seriously, people who support such practices are off. There are a lot of good ways to teach children what's important in life and beating is just low. And it doesn't matter whether it's "just" a little smack.

And really, people who got physically punished when they were young and say that it's okay now, I wonder whether they'd be happy if they received such treatment for some kind of wrong doing today. Beating is just wrong. Period.

The original question was mispelled. What you're talking about is corporal punishment. The question they posted was about corporeal punishment. Corporeal is 1. Of or relating to a person's body, esp. as opposed to their spirit. 2. Having a body. That's why everyone's answers are so jokey and sarcastic.

Noted. But sorry, I can't find anything funny about some of the comments I read, so I'm not editing mine.
